Appelusa McGlynn
Appelusa is a professional artistic roller skater, certified coach, and performance
choreographer. For the last two decades, Appelusa has been coaching, choreographing, and consulting on shows such as HBO’s Black Monday, The Office, and The Goldberg’s. She has performed live with Katy Perry, in Madonna’s God Control music video, and in the HBO series Sharp Objects. Appelusa is most notable for the mesmerizing roller skating in the Chet Faker “Gold” music video. Her now famous roller skating skills come from a long family history in the industry. Her family owned and operated Northridge Skateland for over 60 years where she began skating at age 2 and was competing in artistic skating by age 5. By 2002 she was a Regional Pairs Champion and Bronze Medal World Champion in the "Show Team" event. Since 2002 Appelusa was the head coach for the artistic skating team, spawning many regional and national champions.
During the pandemic, her family owned roller skating rink closed, and she struggled to keep teaching. She offered an off-skates conditioning class to her competitive students, and Zoom lessons. She started a YouTube channel to teach people skating skills from beginner to advanced during such a challenging time for all. She now teaches live workshops across the U.S.
